VOTD: Galatians 4:4-5

NIV: Galatians 4:4-5 - But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

Theme: This bible verse from Galatians 4:4-5 focusses on the themes of redemption, divine timing, sacrifice, and divine kinship. It emphasizes that Jesus, who was born of a woman, came at a specified time set by God, to redeem or save those under the Jewish laws and offers the possibility of adoption into the family of God for all.

Emotions: The verse brings about emotions of hope, love, sacrifice, gratitude, and anticipation. It elicits hope for being adopted as God's children, love for Jesus who died for mankind, the feeling of anticipation for the act carried out at the 'set time', and gratitude for the divine plan of kinship.

Imagery: The verse introduces a series of powerful images: the divine entrant (Jesus) born under eternal law, embodying sacrifice and redemption, the image of oppressed or confined people under the law awaiting liberation, and the heartwarming image of undeserving humans being adopted into God's own family. There's also the subtle image of divinely planned timing.

Illustration: Draw a clock with its hands pointing at midnight, signifying the 'set time' has fully come. There should be an image of Mary holding baby Jesus, depicting 'born of a woman'. Draw half broken chains or shackles depicting people being freed (redeemed) from the constraints of the law, suggest the idea of Jesus' redemption. To symbolize adoption into God's family, the clock and all these images could be in the palm of a large, loving hand, representing God's. The top of the clock can bleed into a graphic of a cross, tying back to the sacrificial theme inherent in the verse.
