Verse of the day: Matthew 20: 17-19

" Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”"

As followers of Christ, we recognize the gravity and profundity of His journey to Jerusalem. This journey was not just a physical trek, but a spiritual ascent towards His divine mission - a demonstration of the depths of His love, and the lengths He would go to ensure our redemption.

This passage does not shy away from the harsh reality. Jesus being "delivered over to the chief priests" presents us with the picture of His sacrificial lamb-like innocence and an unjust, harsh world ready to lambaste Him. But He wasn't a victim of circumstances. Instead, He was the willing Redeemer, choosing this path for us, for our salvation. Let that sink in. His love led Him to willingly embrace unbearable suffering.

Yet, amid the grim details of suffering and death, we uncover a shining beacon of hope. The verse culminates in the statement, "On the third day he will be raised to life!". Against all odds, love conquers, life overcomes death, providing humanity with an everlasting hope.

Just picturing the journey Jesus undertook can serve as a stirring reminder of the full extent of His sacrifice. As we contemplate on this, we realize that each event - from His deliberate progression towards Jerusalem, His prophecy of betrayal, condemnation to death, and the promise of resurrection, all serve as roadmaps to our own journey of faith. They remind us that following Jesus might involve challenges, even suffering, but walking with Him always leads to hope and resurrection.

So, let us reflect on this Amazing Grace. Think of His love, painted in vivid, painful details, and contrast it with the bright hope that emerged out of it. May this visual metaphor serve as a powerful reminder of Jesus' love and His promise of eternal life, encouraging us to abide in His love and walk persistently in our own journey of faith.
