VOTD: 2 Corinthians 5:17

NIV: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Theme: The main theme from this Bible verse is transformation and renewal. It speaks to the concept of spiritual rebirth and the personal change that come as a result of accepting Christ. By accepting Christ, one attains a new, spiritual life that surpasses any previous existence, replacing the old with new possibilities.

Emotions: The verse expresses emotions of hope, excitement, rejuvenation, freedom, and transformation. It gives a sense of relief and joy to those who grasp the opportunity to change their lives around through Christ.

Imagery: This verse conjures the image of a fresh start - like the dawn of a new day after a long night. It evokes long-awaited spring replacing a harsh winter or a caterpillar transforming into a beautiful butterfly; symbols of change, growth and renewal.

Illustration: An artist could interpret this verse by drawing a person standing in a transition zone with the left side showing a barren, dry, and gloomy landscape representing an 'old' life, whereas the right side shows blooming fields, sunrise and vibrant colors signifying the renewed 'new' life in Christ. The person could be riddled with chains on the 'old' side, which willfully fall off as they transition to the 'new' side, signifying freedom and transformation.
