Verse Of The Day: 1 Samuel 16:7

NIV: 1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Theme: The main theme of this verse is inner beauty and goodness versus outer appearance. It emphasizes God’s unique ability to look beyond physical attributes and determine a person's worth based on their heart or moral character.

Emotions: This verse can evoke a sense of reassurance and humility, while also challenging societal norms of judging personal worth based on appearance or superficial traits. It signifies the insufficiency of outward looks and the cardinal value of inner virtue.

Imagery: The imagery here evokes a contrast between superficial physical judgment and profound emotional comprehension. It pictures the Lord peering deeply into an individual's heart disregarding the physical attributes that humanity often uses to judge.

Illustration: Create an illustration showing a towering, strong-looking character being overlooked by a divine light or a symbol representing God, who instead is focusing on a smaller, less formidable character. The "divine focus" could be represented as a beam of light illuminating the smaller character's chest area, emphasizing the focus on the heart or inner character.
