John 14:1-3

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.


Theme: The theme of this passage is faith, reassurance, and love. These verses are spoken by Jesus to his disciples, comforting them about his imminent departure from earth. Jesus assures them that he is going to create a place for them in God’s heavenly kingdom. This passage emphasizes belief, both in God and Jesus himself, and promises reunion in the afterlife.

Emotions: The likely emotions of this passage are solace, peace, love and anticipation. Jesus tries to soothe his disciples who are likely feeling confusion, concern, and unease about his pending departure.
