Verse of the day: Colossians 3:12

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

In reflecting on our daily lives, we often forget how God sees us — as His chosen people, holy and dearly loved. We are not simply beings wandering aimlessly on earth; we are chosen with dignity and purpose, treasured by the Creator of the Universe. In light of this profound truth, our response is to live up to this calling and 'clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience'. What an image, what a challenge!

This isn't about a physical dress code, but clothing our spirits to reflect God's image. It's as deliberate an act as choosing what to wear each morning. Except, these garments never go out of style. As we put on compassion, we remember Christ's deep empathy for humanity. Wrapping ourselves with kindness leads us to care for others selflessly just as Christ did. When we take up humility, we set aside self-importance and pride; slipping into gentleness, we remember to deal with others graciously in love. Patience reminds us to bear with each other, just as God tolerates our imperfections.

The verse beautifully presents the virtues as spiritual garments, imploring us to choose them daily — a choice that creates a sense of visual poetry, a kaleidoscope of love and holiness, kindness and humility, gentleness and ultimate patience, which paints not only God's ideal for us but His ever-enduring love for His chosen people.

Remember, each day is another opportunity to don these spiritual virtues, to reflect God's love to those around us. So, as we wake up each morning, let us pause and be deliberate about our spiritual wardrobe, considering what we will wear in our hearts and display to the world. This is our sacred calling: to dress in the rich tapestry of God’s love, and to spread that warmth in a world that desperately needs it.
