Verse of the day: Romans 15:13

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

A Moment of Overflowing Hope

Can we picture pouring water into a glass until it spills over the edges? That's the beautiful imagery this verse paints, except the water is a metaphor for joy, peace, hope, and the glass represents us. It suggests that our faith and trust in God can make us overflow with immense joy, peace, and hope, and the power behind this overflow is the Holy Spirit.

At times, we may feel empty, just like an empty glass, devoid of joy or peace. But let us remember that God is the God of hope. When we place our trust in Him, He fills us with joy and peace, so much so that we overflow with hope. It is not the kind of hope tied to our worldly wants and desires, but a hope centered on God, a hope that is confident and unyielding, a hope that rises by the power of the very Spirit of God.

Imagine a tree planted by streams of water, fed and nourished by the deep currents below. Just so, when we embed our roots in God’s goodness, fed by our faith, we flourish like that tree. We bear fruits of joy and peace, the visible evidence of our connection with God.

Do we trust God to fill our emptiness? Do we believe in Him to nourish our roots and help us bear fruit? When we embrace God, His blessings don’t just fill us to the brim; they cause us to overflow. The fruits of His Spirit are not meant only for us to enjoy but to share with others. This is the fullness of God's love and His blessings, not just for us to hold onto and enjoy privately but to willingly overflow into the lives of others.

As we journey this faith together, let's engage God with our trust more profoundly, and consequently, overflow with His joy, peace and hope. Let us, with the Holy Spirit's power, become the vessels that overflow God's immense love to the world around us.
