Verse of the day: Hebrews 6:10
"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them."
This verse from Hebrews 6:10 offers one of the most tender reassurances in all of Scripture: God does not overlook quiet faithfulness. He is neither distant nor indifferent. He sees every act of service, every hidden sacrifice, every prayer whispered for another, every meal prepared, every burden shared, and every moment spent helping His people in love. The world often celebrates visible success, public recognition, and immediate results, but the kingdom of God honors something deeper—love made visible through perseverance.
The image of a steadfast lamp kept burning with oil beautifully reflects the heart of this verse. A lamp does not draw attention to itself; it gives light so that others may find their way. In the same manner, Christian service is often humble and unobtrusive. Much of what believers do for one another happens in ordinary spaces: visiting the sick, encouraging the weary, giving generously, teaching children, serving in obscurity, forgiving patiently, and continuing to show up when no applause comes. Yet the lamp keeps burning. Its flame becomes a symbol of devotion sustained by grace. The oil suggests the Spirit’s ongoing work within us, enabling us to continue loving when our own strength would fail.
There is also comfort here for the discouraged heart. Some believers grow weary because their labor seems unnoticed. Perhaps you have poured yourself into others and wondered whether it mattered. This verse answers that ache directly: God remembers. His memory is not passive observation; it is covenantal love. He sees not only the deed, but the love behind it. He notices not just that you served His people, but that in serving them, you showed love to Him.
This changes how we view daily life. Acts of compassion are never wasted. A phone call, a kind word, a generous gift, an unseen prayer, a long season of caregiving—these are sacred offerings before the Lord. Faithfulness is not measured by spotlight, but by love.
Today, let this truth steady your soul. Keep the lamp burning. Continue in mercy. Continue in kindness. Continue in service. The God who called you is just, attentive, and deeply pleased by love that endures.
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You see what others miss and remember what the world forgets. Strengthen my heart when I grow tired in doing good. Fill me with Your Spirit so that my love may remain steady and sincere. Help me serve Your people with joy, humility, and perseverance, trusting that nothing done in Your name is ever lost. Amen.
