Verse of the day: Ephesians 3:17-19

"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God."

The Architecture of a Soul

How do you measure love? We try. We use time, sacrifice, gifts, and words. We want to quantify it, to understand its limits. Yet, in his breathtaking prayer in Ephesians, the Apostle Paul invites us into a different kind of measurement—one where the measuring tape is infinity itself.

He prays that we would be "rooted and grounded in love." Imagine this as an ancient illustration. At the center of your soul is a great tree, its roots digging deep into the rich soil of God’s love. Those same roots are also the foundation stones of a mighty cathedral. You are not a flimsy tent; you are a living temple. This is the essential first step. Before we can comprehend the vastness of God’s love, we must be firmly established in it. We cannot appreciate the view from a skyscraper while standing on quicksand. Faith allows Christ to dwell in our hearts, and His presence makes love our foundation.

From this place of security, we can begin to look up and see the scale of His love. Paul prays that we might "comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height." This isn't a solitary academic exercise; it's a shared discovery with the entire family of God. In our illustration, this is the vast, cosmic cross that frames everything. Its breadth reaches to every person, its length stretches across all of history, its depth descends to the lowest pit, and its height raises us to the heavens. It is the full dimension of Christ’s work.

And here lies the beautiful paradox. Paul prays that we might "know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge." How can we know something that is beyond knowing? This is the difference between reading a map and actually traveling the terrain. We can know facts about love, but Paul is praying for us to experience a love so vast it overwhelms our intellectual categories. It’s a heart-knowledge, a felt reality.

This journey of knowing leads to the final, stunning goal: "that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." The purpose of knowing this love isn’t just to be impressed by it, but to be transformed by it. We are vessels, and as we comprehend more of His love, He pours more of Himself into us. The strong foundation, the vast cross, the experiential knowledge—it all serves to make us containers of the divine. Today, stand on that firm foundation of love, gaze upon its infinite dimensions, and open your heart to be filled.
