Verse of the day: Isaiah 26:4
"Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:"
Strength That Outlasts the Storm
“Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.”
It is easy to trust when the road is clear and the weather is kind. Trust becomes harder when plans unravel, prayers seem unanswered, or we cannot see beyond the next step. Isaiah’s invitation meets us there. It does not say, “Trust until things become difficult.” It says, “Trust … for ever,” because the One we trust does not run out of strength.
Imagine this verse painted on a page of an illuminated Bible. A few travelers make their way beneath a troubled sky. Their cloaks are pulled tight against the wind, and none can see the whole road ahead. Yet before them rises a great rock, with a place of shelter cut into it. The storm is real, but so is their refuge.
That rock is the heart of the picture. Our resolve can be worn down by fear, fatigue, and disappointment. God’s faithfulness is not made of the same fragile material. We do not have to pretend to be unshakable in order to trust an unshakable God. We may come to him tired, uncertain, and in need of help.
The travelers also walk together. Isaiah’s “trust ye” addresses more than one person, reminding us that faith is not always a solitary journey. When one traveler struggles to keep going, another can point toward the shelter. We can offer that gift through prayer, a patient ear, or the simple assurance, “I’m here with you.”
In the illustration, gold light reaches across the path even beneath the clouds. It does not erase the storm; it helps the travelers see where to place their feet. Perhaps that is what trust looks like today: not knowing how every difficulty will end, but taking the next faithful step toward the Lord who remains.
What would it mean to lean on his everlasting strength for that one step?
